Frequently Asked Questions

How much money do I need to take with me to Vegas?
It doesn't really matter how much you take you can enjoy yourself with a very small amount. You can eat Breakfast for $2.99; Lunch for $3.99 and Dinner for $4.99 and all drinks are free when gambling. Other than that its up to you if you don't want to gamble there is plenty to keep you occupied for few days with out needing to spend a penny. I allow myself about $100 per day this easily covers all meals, drinks, souvierneer and gambling. The odds particularly on the slots are far better in Vegas than London and $20 can last all night.

I don't gamble is there is there any point in me going to Vegas?
Yes Yes Yes and Yes. If you don't gamble you have all ready won when you get off the plane, all of these free attractions, cut price buffets and cheap rooms are here to entice in gamblers and you get them with out putting a penny in a slot. There is so much to see and do in Las Vegas from theme parks to museums to Health Spa's to shows and concerts, not gambling does not matter at all. This is the entertainment capital of the World there is something here for everyone

Is Las Vegas safe?
I don't think that there is a city that I have felt safer in than Las Vegas. With the exception of the area around the Stratosphere and North of Circus Circus (which I would avoid after dark) the Strip is well lit and busy. Police patrol the streets on mountain bikes quite regularly and most people are here for a good time I have never felt threatened here and even got my wallet back when I lost it with everything intact.

Do I need a car?
You don't need to have a car if you are staying on the Strip but I think it is well worth hiring one. The distance from one end of the Strip to the other is a fair hike and the casinos are further apart than they look. There are a wide variety of public transports running up and down the Strip but these can increase your journey time ten fold.

What is the weather like?
In the summer it is hot very hot every day will be over 100F, in the winter on a good day you can get by with a Tshirt in the day but need a jumper in the evening. Las Vegas can get very windy in the winter so it is advisable to take a wind proof jacket

Is Las Vegas a good resort to take children?
The casinos would have you believe that Vegas is now a fun family resort but I beg to differ. Whilst Circus Circus offers a theme park and there are amusement arcades at most other casinos children are not allowed to do anything other than walk through the gaming areas. You are not allowed to bring any child into any of the bars and the casinos are all very strict on this. Less than 5% of visitors bring children with them and to be honest with the possible exception of Circus Circus and Excalibur children are not catered for.
