Location Center Strip attached to her sister Hotel Paris and oppersite Bellagio great location

Theme To be honest there isn't really one. There is the grand 200 foot moving walkway with neon lights, fountains and music as you enter from the Strip, but no theme. If there is supposed to be a theme I guess its just sort of classy glamour and this is the sort of feeling it does give out.

Attractions Bally’s is not really aiming for the people who usually would choose a resort for its attractions; however they still do better than many other hotels on the strip. Bally’s was originally owned and got its name from the video game company of "Frogger" fame in the 80's, so not surprisingly it has a large video amusement arcade in the basement.
Because of its close proximity of Paris all of those attractions are on Bally’s doorstep.

Shopping Not bad. The basement level is a shopping mall that is not up to the standard of the Desert Passage or Caesars Forum, but there is a fair variety of shops. When it was built, it was probably the best shopping contained within a hotel.

Dining Bally’s Big Kitchen (B$12.99, L$14.99, D$18.99, Sunday Brunch $18.99 with champagne) is a brilliant buffet. Amongst other culinary delights, it has an extensive selection of very good Chinese food, some cooked to order. The staff are very friendly and only enhance this eating experience. It is not the cheapest option on the Strip but well worth the extra dig into the coffers. I did not notice a food court as such but found quite decent coffee shop on the casino floor. There are of course several other classy restaurants that I did not eat at.

Gaming

A mere 52,000 sq ft. Small by Strip standards, but it still manages to fit in over 1800 slots, 60 tables and 8 roulette wheels. There is a fair amount of nickel action for players like me, and table minimums seem to be the standard Strip $5. You will see high rollers here, and it is known as a good place for the "whales" to play with no gimmicks and an elegant atmosphere. The casino does not seem as frantic as many - it has a sort of calm soothing feeling to it.

Update from March 2002 – Blackjack at Bally’s now pays 6:5 instead of 3:2, i.e. for a $5 bet you get paid $6 instead of $7.50 so not a place for low rollers to gamble.

Drinks Service Not very hot. Maybe because I am a lowly nickel player they decide that I am not worthy of the investment of free alcohol. One of the cocktail waitresses also seemed to be put out when we wanted a coffee.

Best Thing Bally’s has a sort of relaxed elegant feel. It sort of knows that it has stood the test of time and does not have to try to impress people as they know what it’s all about. It's hard to explain, but it is a really nice feel.

Worst Thing Nickel players drinks service

Overall A casino that has stood the test of time elegant and a serious place to gamble.
