Free Shows on the Strip
|

| In Las Vegas there is plenty to do for free below I have listed my favourites, all of which I think are well worth going to see. Some are better than others, but they are free - just remember that these are all ploys to get you through the door of the Casinos and dropping quarters into the slots. | ||
| The Tropicana On your way in there is a free pull slot machine at each entrance, so have a go - although it is unlikely you will win $10,000 we have won and seen others win tickets and 2-1 offers for the shows here and it is totally free. Then join the slot club you will get a baseball cap, keying, pair of dice or pack of playing cards. You will also be given a fun book that has several vouchers in it including free admission to the Casino Legends Hall of Fame. This is a museum that tells the story of Vegas with thousands exhibits, from chips of every casino there ever has been, to one of Elvis's Jump Suits. There are also a couple of videos playing showing how organised crime and Vegas were linked, old Casinos being imploded and the story of Evil Keniviel's motorbike jump over the Grand Canyon. At the end there is a great Vegas gift shop selling amongst other things memorabilia from Casinos that have long since been imploded. |

| Bellagio The fountains here are legendary and truly amazing. There are hundreds of them, spanning over 1000 feet and shooting carefully choreographed water 240 feet in the air. The fountains perform to various types of music from Rock to Opera. Shows are 3pm - midnight through the week and from noon until midnight at weekends, and run every 30 minutes in the day and every 15 minutes in the evening. |

| Mirage The Mirage is set out to be tropical paradise, and as you walk in you get to see Seigfried and Roy's white tigers (everyone knows about this). What is not as well known is that behind the registration desk there is a huge saltwater fish tank, this contains thousands of fish, as well as sharks and rays - make sure you get to see this treasure. The main free attraction at the Mirage is the volcano this "erupts" to the beating of native drums every 15 minutes from dusk until midnight, and is reputed to cost the Mirage $10,000 a day in fuel. This, like all Mirage resorts free shows is a must on any trip to Vegas |

Treasure
Island If you have kids, you have no chance of avoiding this one, which is no bad thing as it is great. They have two full sized tall ships - one a British frigate and the other a pirate ship complete with skull and crossbones. This show lasts about 20 minutes and involves loads of pyrotechnics, creating noise and fire, at least 20 real actors, several of which end up in the drink. I don't think that I am ruining it by telling you that one ship is completely sunk. Shows run every 90 minutes from 5.30pm until 11.30pm at weekends, but stop one show earlier in the week. If you want to get a good view you will need to get there early as this show is always popular - people often position themselves as long as 30 minutes before the performance starts. |
